Ed Brayton, Dispatches from the Culture Wars (via owlsandorange) (via darkjez) Welp… (via fracturedrefuge) ~*post racial society*~ You can get some illuminating results when you control for factors such as socioeconomic status (though though the arrest rates haven’t been, to be precise, which skews the comparison) which can be great for smashing stereotypes, though the questions then rarely asked are ones like - how bad must it be (e.g. the drug abuse rate) for those at lower socioeconomic status and what does this mean for normality and socialisation and WHY this is? - why are so many PoC kept in this group? - why is there so little mobility for anybody to get out of this group, less than there was 20 to 30 years ago? |
